Sarah King

Sarah King’s versatile vocals alternate between coaxing and commanding, tricking the listener into thinking and feeling after being drawn in on the surface by hummable, radio-ready hooks. With songs ranging from blues-influenced murder ballads to fierce female-empowerment anthems, her powerful voice is rooted in Americana and soul.

King dissects and divulges secrets of her past to reveal truths about her present. Her songs are equal parts affirmation and lamentation, illuminating the shadows of the human experience. Her writing is intensely personal, immersive, and vulnerable, while at the same time echoing strength and resolve. You’ll feel like you’re sitting on a front porch in the deep south on a sultry summer night with one too many drinks behind you, looking out at a dark, beckoning path toward a future you want to believe in but can’t quite see.

King recently finished recording an EP with Simone Felice and David Baron (The Lumineers, Matt Maeson, Jade Bird) that will be available Spring 2021.The first single, Nightstand, flipped the script on traditional murder ballads sung from a male perspective. The slow burning message behind the entire EP is clear: don’t underestimate women.
