Jon Griffin (guitar, Cuban tres and percussion) is a native of Los Angeles and is currently living between Billings Montana and Havana Cuba. In 1986, while studying composing and arranging at the Dick Grove School of Music in Studio City, he became hooked on Latin music when he heard a band featuring percussionists Luis Conte and Alex Acuna. Since graduating from Grove, Jon has traveled extensively throughout Mexico, the Caribbean, and South America. Wherever he goes, he absorbs the musical knowledge of the local people. Sometimes this means hanging out with street percussionists in a seedy part of Havana and sometimes it means hiking up a mountain path in Colombia to take a guitar lesson.

He specializes in latin, jazz, tropical, and latin pop. All his available originals are one stop with no samples, and almost all use live musicians.

Any songs with cowriters have collaborators agreements.

He can create bespoke music either in Cuba, Colombia, or the USA. Most tracks have instrumental and TV mixes, many have alt mixes as well. He has syncs in Europe and Cuba, and owns HJJ Publishing (BMI) and Salsa Blanca (ASCAP).

He is also a published author with several books on Cuban music and ethnomusicology.
