Richard Goldstein is a multi-award-winning veteran of the music industry. His long career has taken him from late 50’s rockabilly and R&B in Memphis through the folk, blues, pop, rock, soul, funk and jazz of the 60s, 70s, 80’s and beyond. He has held a variety of executive and staff roles at Aldon Music, ASCAP, Columbia Records, EB Marx Music, Elektra Records, Satellite/Stax Records; and has done significant work as an independent.

Richard’s interest in music for film began while serving as orchestrator on film scores for Henry Mancini, Georges Delerue, Michel Legrand, and Serge Gainsbourg. In 1979/80 he served as Music Supervisor on the 1980 RSO Film “Times Square”.

Richard’s work has been covered by more than 350 individual artists. He has been the primary arranger on more than 800 commercial releases and produced more than 2000. He is associated with more than 100 top-100 singles, and more than 500 charted albums. While he has continued to write and, occasionally produce music, Richard was primarily retired between 1982 and 2022. In mid-2022 he came out of retirement to relaunch his oldguysrulemusic operation and to establish the licensing and production operations of Redwood Music Publishing. He has now returned exclusively to oldguysrulemusic.
