Charles Richard Newman Bio

Having worked on film projects for over two decades now, Newman started his foray into film music with one of his first song placements in the cult classic film Empire Records, when his band PLEASE worked with Talking Head / producer Jerry Harrison on their song “Here it Comes Again” landing them in the film and on the platinum-selling soundtrack.  From there he went on to supply music as a composer, producer and work as a music editor on any array of projects, as his company Mother West amassed a catalog of indie artists and other composers and producers that they represent.

Recently Newman has scored an array of award winning documentaries and music supervised projects that include the MGM/Orion Classics film All These Small Moments starring Molly Ringwald, Jemima Kirke and Brian D’Arcy James, the feature film Monday for Robert Rodriguez’s “Rebel Without a Crew” TV series, and an environmental documentary The Condor and The Eagle. He’s currently working on several new film projects including a Japanese Rockabilly Western and Millennium Bugs, a new feature film with director Alejandro Montoya Marin.
