Gary Calamar, president of Go Music, is a five-time Grammy-nominated producer and music supervisor whose credits include True Blood, Six Feet Under, Dexter, Entourage, Weeds, House, The Man in the High Castle and Titans. His more recent work includes Netflix’s 3 Body Problem and HBO’s Somebody Somewhere, continuing a career connecting distinctive music with memorable television storytelling.
A longtime fixture of Los Angeles radio, Gary hosts The Open Road on 88.5 The SoCal Sound (KCSN), following his years at KCRW. He is also the co-author, with Phil Gallo, of Record Store Days, a celebration of record stores and the culture surrounding them.
As a songwriter and recording artist, Gary co-wrote “Let’s Boot and Rally,” performed by Iggy Pop and Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast for True Blood, and released his debut EP, You Are What You Listen To, on Atlantic Records in 2014. His recent releases include “Distractions” and a newly reworked version of “I Got An Idea,” featuring guest vocals from DEVO’s Mark Mothersbaugh, released through Big Stir Records on September 11, 2026. The collaboration brings Mothersbaugh’s unmistakable voice to a song partly inspired by DEVO itself.
Gary’s latest single, “Who Are We Gonna Be Today?” featuring Robyn Hitchcock, arrived on October 9, 2026. Both collaborations appear on his forthcoming debut full-length album, Odd Numb3rs and Slanted Rhymes, due October 23, 2026, on Big Stir Records. Produced by John Would, the collection brings together songs from across Gary’s recording career alongside new material, showcasing his melodic pop-rock songwriting, sharp wordplay and offbeat sense of humor.
