Originally hailing from the small community of Kitwanga, British Columbia and now based out of Prince George B.C Canada, Karl Wyssen is a musician, singer-songwriter and multi instrumentalist who has been in love with music ever since his father bought him a bass guitar at the age of thirteen. Being in many different bands and groups over the years, Karl was always playing the role of supporting musician. It wasn’t until the release of his first EP (Grandpa’s Hat) in April of 2020 that he made his solo debut. Although it was recorded and mixed in his bedroom,”G.H” received local acclaim and went to #1 on campus radio station CFUR FM for two months. Following the momentum gathered from the release of Grandpa’s Hat, Wyssen went right back to work writing and creating his latest studio EP “May Long ”, which was recorded and mixed at Pulp City Music in Prince George. Karl’s music features themes of love, overcoming adversity and captures the spirit and sentimental nature of living in the North. On both Grandpas Hat and May Long Wyssen plays all the instruments and is only accompanied by his partner Sarah Wildi on backup vocals.

May Long was released on May 20th 2021.

Track 3 of May Long, “Uphill Battle” was co written with Cliff Ashton, who I share the master rights with.
Track 4 of May Long, ” May Long” was co written with Joe Daniels, who I share the master rights with.

Other than the two exceptions above I own all the rights to my music and have registered my work with Socan, Connect Music Licensing and the Canadian Intellectual Property Office(CIPO)

I’ve toured western Canada as a supporting musician with a few groups(Danny Bell and His Disappointments, The Gandharvas, Blind Vinyl) but I have not been able to play any shows of my solo act with the current situation we are in regarding the pandemic. Currently I am booking shows and festivals for September.
