David Ari Leon has received screen credit as music supervisor on over 700 movies, television shows and interactive projects. He earned his first screen credit working on music for a film with Danny Elfman, while obtaining a B.A. degree in music from UCLA. He started his professional career at the age of 22 with a music position at NBC, where he received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Music Direction. This was on the series “Days of Our Lives,” where he selected music for close to 1000 episodes of the show and placed songs in the series by many iconic artists including Jimi Hendrix, The Supremes and Chris Isaac. Following that, he held a position of Vice President of Music at Fox for six years, where he music supervised major titles like Power Rangers, Les MisérablesandIncredible Hulk. At that point, David struck out on his own, 15 years ago, founding Sound Mind Music as a full-service music house. The company’s client list boasts many of the biggest media companies, including Marvel, Warner Brothers, Disney, Netflix, NBC/Universal, Starz, EA and Lionsgate.
Under the Sound Mind Music banner, David has helped create and reinforce the signature sound of some of the most recognizable brands like X-Men, Woody Woodpecker, Captain America, Peanuts and Superman. Some of his movie credits with Sound Mind Music include music supervising film titles for Marvel such as Invincible Iron Man, Ultimate AvengersandThor: Tales of Asgard.
Currently airing on ABC weekly in the US and worldwide, David has received music supervisor credits in over 200 episodes of the Emmy winning show,“Sea Rescue,” and the Emmy nominated series, “The Wildlife Docs.” His company, Sound Mind Music, is also currently in the process of creating and providing original songs for Netflix.
