Sync Summit LA 2018 Showcase Artists: Fire Voices and Duo Zikr

“FireVoices” are the sole music band of 6 men that use a unique vocal technique called «FreeVoice» for performing vocal improvisations that are born right at the stage. The band’s performed in many cities of the EU. It has got a festival experience: MIDEM, Cannes (2010-2012), SyncSummit, Paris (2014); “From Christmas to Christmas, Dniepropetrovsk (2012), “Kiev Street Music Fest”, Kiev (2014), «Jazz in Kiev», Kiev (2014) etc.

The idea of creation belongs to the founders and soloists of Duo Zikr – Olga Tkachenko and Igor Silin (Kalinauskas). Igor and Olga for 25 years of joint creativity have performed in dozens countries of the world, singing 100% vocal improvisations, recorder over three dozens of albums and video clips. And finally, they’ve decided to create a music band that would continue and develop their art legacy.

And so, in Kiev, in 2007, within Duo Zikr’s “Sound Of Magic” program the FireVoices project was born. The creative activity of the FireVoices consists of several directions:

First of all, it is pure vocal improvisations, so called “symphonic singing”, performed “a capella”, sometimes with instruments, sometimes with Duo Zikr.

These include such programs as

«Sound of Magic» (2007-2008);
«Spirit. Art. Love» (2011);
«Mystery of the cup» (2012-2013);
«In search of Light» (2013);
«Play of colors» (2015);
«Spirit Warrior» (2015-2016.)

The band develops and performs classic “zikr” in the modern manner. The FireVoices have created a unique format “ZikroJazz” successfully presented within “Theme with variations. Live” project of Oleksiy Kogan (produced by “Jazz in Kiev”)and in many cities of Ukraine as well as within SyncSummit in Paris.

Third direction of the band’s work is the dramatic art . «FireVoices» have staged and presented to the Ukrainian audience an original interpretation of Lesya Ukrainka’s novels under a title “Love one another” based on biblical story plots (2015). The band currently works on another modern interpretation of “Romeo and Juliet” and Webber’s “Jesus Christ Super Star”.
