The Art of Storytelling: The work of music supervisors in Film, streaming and TV

How can you connect your music to the people who need it? And how can your music help supervisors tell great stories in their film, streaming, and TV projects? That’s what we’ll explore today.

Join our panelists as they discuss how they navigate creative challenges—like finding the exact piece of music that captures the emotion of a scene—as well as practical challenges such as budget, legal clearance, copyright confirmation, and timing. They’ll also touch on “soft” factors, including managing stakeholder expectations, navigating interpersonal politics around music usage, and how you can effectively support the process.

BETTER, STRONGER, FASTER: How ai and tech can help you succeed in music for media

So much of today’s conversation around music and technology is negative, but this panel will take a different approach: we’ll focus on how the smart use of technology can make you more efficient, help your music get discovered by decision makers, and increase your chances of getting synced.

From mastering to music discovery, the ethical application of AI is helping us categorize music, make it searchable, make it findable, and produce it more efficiently.

And beyond AI, as our industry has gone fully digital, tools for sync—like Disco and Bridge Audio—along with production, editing, and metadata-enhancement tools have transformed the way we work.

This panel will explore the smart, ethical use of technology to help music get made, get discovered, and get used in ways that allow you to operate and scale efficiently and successfully.

Connecting your music to opportunity, part II: working with productIon music libraries, Publishers and building your own practice.

Production music libraries and publishers are some of the most important music resources for all types of audiovisual media.

And, for musicians, they represent an important way to connect music to opportunities for music licensing.

Some of these companies act similarly to sync agencies, where they pitch music on an individual basis, and some provide entire catalogues on a blanket license basis to their clients.  What they both have in common is that they act as primary music sources for sync, and they are always looking for great music.

On this panel, we’ll discuss how publishers and production music libraries work with musicians and their clients, their business models and how you can work with them to help you succeed in getting your music licensed.

Trailers and Promos – Creating and licensing music for marketing content

The mission of trailers and promos is to market content—and the music used in them is central to their impact.

Sound design, creative music editing, and overall musicality are crucial to making trailers and promos exciting, compelling, and actionable. The right music can transform a passive viewer into someone who streams a series, buys a ticket, or heads to the theater.

This panel features experts from trailer houses, network promo departments, and leading music creators who will break down how music for trailers and promos works—and where the opportunities are for you in this dynamic sector.

Sync Global, Sync Social: Expanding Opportunities in music licensing

This panel will zoom out beyond typical opportunities and markets to explore how you can work in global markets and social media campaigns.

First, let’s look at the global landscape. The most successful artists, agencies, labels, and publishers in sync don’t limit their pitching and outreach to North America—they go global.

Every major studio and streaming service is now producing series and films for major international markets, including East Asia, India, the Middle East, Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Oceania.

And it’s not just TV/streaming and film—it’s games, ads, trailers, promos, and social media content as well.

Why is this important? Because a significant amount of the music used in these productions—about 30% from our experience—comes from artists and resources outside the local market.

Beyond that, there’s a major uptick in the use of music in social media campaigns for brands and content creators who need high-quality, cost-effective music for their reels, stories, and posts.

Podcasts also continue to grow into a solid business opportunity, representing yet another expanding market for your music.

This panel brings together global and social media music supervisors and other decision makers to discuss emerging opportunities in these markets, what they expect from you, and how you can connect your music to international and social media sync opportunities.

Music, Ads and Brands: How do agencies and brands work with music and how can you work with them?

The way ad agencies and brands work with music is very different from any other area of media. To succeed in this space, you need to understand who the players are, what they expect, what they need, and how they collaborate with artists and music companies on a practical level.

This includes knowing why brands and agencies use music, understanding key industry terms like ideation and sonic branding, and recognizing the full range of music resources they rely on—from labels and custom music houses to artists, publishers, sync agents, music libraries, and more.

This panel brings together music supervisors and creative leaders from brands and ad agencies to discuss their process, their business, and how you can effectively engage with them and their projects.
