Elizabeth Usher is a multi-genre songwriter from Sydney, Australia, with many songwriting awards across several categories (such as jazz, hip hop, RnB/Urban, spoken word, lyrics only, rock, and open), and songs signed by a number of companies (including Crucial Music, InStyle Music, What Up Pitches, Imaginary Friends Music Partners, and SongTown Licensing/Madden Flow Entertainment).
She has been performing as MC Pony for over a decade, her distinctive and heartfelt style both delighting and educating audiences with her trademark ‘mindful rhymes for kinder times’. Her Veganthused project is all about inspiring and encouraging people to explore and embrace veganism.
MC Pony has featured at festivals and events both across Australia and internationally and several of her own singles, plus cuts with other artists, charted on Triple J Unearthed. Despite performing material that raises awareness about animal rights, environmental and social justice issues, an MC Pony show is fun, upbeat, and entertaining – it’s activism with a smile!
In 2019 Elizabeth launched her UKEnTHUSED project, with the first release “Ukulele Boogie Woogie” (featuring Renée Jonas and Cameron Murray ) winning over $1K worth of prizes for first place in The Song Comp’s children’s/novelty/comedy category.
From the cute and funny “There’s No Place for a Uke on Halloween” (featuring Lindy Sardelic) to the emotional “There is Room at the Table” (featuring Emily Anderson), the quirky and memorable UKEnTHUSED songs are sure to appeal.
Since leaving her day job at the end of 2019 to concentrate full-time on songwriting Elizabeth has also been writing regularly with collaborators both locally and across the globe for artist releases and/or sync projects, and in addition has been commissioned for multiple podcast theme intros.
Her love for writing, great sense of humour, and understanding of the business side of the industry make for a winning combination. Just don’t let her near a karaoke mic!
